Obituary for Valerie Rose Carmody

***Due to inclement weather Valerie's funeral service will be postponed, please see obituary below*** Valerie Rose Carmody, 59, of Howell Township passed away at home on Saturday morning, February 4th, 2017 surrounded by her loving family - her daughters, her mother, and her son in law. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. Valerie lived in Howell Township for many years. She worked as a Pricing Specialist for OPIS. Valerie was a very understanding person, she understood having patience with others, and had a soothing energy about her always offering her helping hand to anyone in need. She was a very soft, gentle, and most loving person, and was loved by all who knew her. Valerie is survived by her loving mother, Mrs. Rita Ascione, by her daughters and their husbands Erin Herlache and her husband JoelDavid, of Spring, Texas, and Gina Gerahty and her husband Anthony of Howell Township, by her brother Ralph Ascione and his wife Jerianne, of Colorado, a sister Susan Forgetta of Colorado, and by her nieces and nephews Ralph, Matt. Louis, Dana, and Keri, by her Godchild Noah Forgetta Dillard, and by her long time best friends Maria Capio and Sharon Seery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 8th, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial Friday, 10th at 12:00 pm at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 43 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, NJ. In lieu of flowers. donations made in Valerie’s memory would be appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN. 38105, or online at stjude.org.
